Bethe Correia: I Will Beat Ronda Rousey, Retire Undefeated

Undefeated women’s bantamweight prospect Bethe Correia is ready for a shot at champion Ronda Rousey after taking out two of her “Four Horsewoman” teammates in consecutive bouts.

After losing the first round against Shayna Baszler at UFC 177 on Saturday, “Pitbull” rallied back to score a second round TKO against her American counterpart.

Now boasting a perfect 9-0 record and the No. 9 spot in the UFC’s official rankings, the Brazilian slugger believes the time is now to take the belt from Rousey, per MMA Fighting.

“I needed this. I knew people would look at me as a great fighter with that. I needed this to get where I want, to get to the title. I’m confident. I’m ready to fight for the title,” Correia said.

" … I want the title fight. I challenge Ronda Rousey to end my invincibility, because she won’t. I’m the one who will retire as the undefeated UFC champion. My dream is to fight for the title. I want to show the whole world that I’m the UFC champion.”

According to UFC President Dana White, Rousey texted him shortly after Correia’s victory and asked to fight the surging contender in her next championship bout.

While White has initially been non-committal to the idea, he said Correia is on the “short-list” of upcoming opponents for the “Rowdy” one.

Correia began to enter the mainstream radar when she defeated Jessamyn Duke by unanimous decision at UFC 172 in April.

After being announce the winner, she put up four fingers before putting one finger down -to signify she had taken out one of the horsewomen.
