Three-time UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen seems to have already gotten under the skin of his long-time rival Wanderlei Silva during the early stages of filming season 3 of The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil, but don’t expect him to take his foot off the gas anytime soon.
Responding to an email from Fighters Only asking about their recent fight on the TUF set, “The American Gangster” said Silva can’t handle the pressure of the show while simultaneously preparing to fight his American arch nemesis.
"Wand is fat. He hasn't taken his shirt off since we have been here,” Sonnen wrote in the email.
“He thought our fight would be in July, but it got announced for May. He's stressed and trying to get out of it.”
Over the weekend, UFC President Dana White announced that Sonnen vs. Silva would be the co-main event of their annual Memorial Day Weekend card, UFC 173.
The pay-per-view event will be headlined by a middleweight title scrap between champion Chris Weidman and challenger Vitor Belfort.
Sonnen had been taunting “The Axe Murderer” on Twitter prior to their scuffle last week and continues to be unrelenting on social media.
“SUPERBOWL UPDATE!!! Game proceeding as planned, Wanderli (sic) still stupid,” Sonnen wrote on Sunday.
TUF: Brazil 3 airs exclusively on UFC Fight Pass on March 9 at 10 p.m. Eastern Time.
