Dan Henderson’s Coach: Vitor Belfort Won’t Fight Outside of Brazil

Perennial UFC middleweight contender Vitor Belfort remains the poster child for everything that is wrong with testosterone replacement therapy, given he hasn’t fought in the states in slightly over two years.

That doesn’t sit well with Dan Henderson’s jiu-jitsu coach, who accused Belfort of hiding in Brazil in an interview with Tatame.

"If Dan [Henderson] can't use [TRT], so won't Vitor! Vitor has already been caught in a doping exam and Dan hasn't!,” he said.

“Dan has been using it for a long time and I think he won't have problems. I am sure Vitor won't come to [Las] Vegas because here he won't be permitted to use TRT as he has been using in fights in Brazil. That's why he only fights there."

Coincidentally, Belfort failed his post-fight drug test for the anabolic steroid 4-hydroxytestosterone after losing a decision to Dan Henderson in October 2006.

Henderson and Belfort cross paths again at UFC Fight Night 32, set for November 9 in Brazil.

This will be the third straight appearance in Brazil for “The Phenom,” also his fifth in a row outside of the United States.

Meanwhile, Henderson, a former Strikeforce and Pride champ, has lost back-to-back split decisions to former UFC light heavyweight titleholders Lyoto Machida and Rashad Evans.

Nevertheless, if the 43-year-old could get past Belfort a second time, his name would go right back on the short list of title contenders.
