In his prime, Chuck Liddell was one of the most devastating forces on the UFC’s roster.
The former UFC light heavyweight champion has been working with the company as the Vice President of Business Development since December 2010 and both parties have seemed content having things that way.
However, a recent Instagram post from “The Iceman’s” head coach, John Hackleman, has fight fans wondering if 44-year-old fan friendly slugger may be debating a comeback.
"Someone's back in training...hmmmm," read Hackleman’s caption to a photo of Liddell hitting a heavy bag.
Boasting seven straight knockouts over the likes of Tito Ortiz (twice), Randy Couture (twice) and Jeremy Horn between April 2004 and December 2006, Liddell’s iron chin began to finally fail him after 23 professional fights.
Liddell lost five of his last six fights between May 2007 and June 2010, suffering three knockouts in a row before finally being coaxed into retirement by UFC President Dana White.
Known for his hard partying ways outside of the cage, Liddell was never known for his intense training. Instead, he relied on his decades of martial arts training and superior reflexes.
Not having a problem taking a punch to give one didn’t hurt his chances, either.
While a return still seems unlikely, Liddell’s popularity would pique the interest of he most casual fight fans, regardless who he ended up being matched up against.
