Former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin has one more fight on his contract with the promotion, but that may not stop him from taking a cushy front desk position with ONE FC.
“Ace” posted on his Facebook page early Saturday morning about the opportunity.
“I have been in talks with ONE FC about taking a job with them. They offered me a position as VP. I will be heading to ONE FC headquarters in the next few weeks to work out the details,” he wrote.
“I met with Dana and Lorenzo at the end of last year and they gave me their blessing. I will keep you posted.”
Franklin hasn’t stepped foot inside the cage since November 2012 loss to ex-Strikeforce champ Cung Le, suffering an embarrassing one-punch knockout in the first round.
At one point one of the most recognizable titleholders on the UFC roster, the 39-year-old is just 3-4 in his past seven fights, though only the Le fight was contested at middleweight.
In his hiatus from the cage, Franklin has been running a juice bar called ZeLin in Beverly Hills, California.
His swan song for the UFC remains up in the air, though three-time title challenger Chael Sonnen has recently expressed an interest in squaring off with Franklin before he calls it a career.
As of this writing, Franklin has not acknowledged the callout.
ONE FC is based out of Singapore and has been up and running since July 14, 2011 and is owned by CEO/Chairman Victor Cui.
