A highly anticipated grudge match between Conor McGregor and Cole Miller is now set for a yet to be named UFC Fight Night event on July 19, which will take place in McGregor’s native Dublin, Ireland.
The UFC announced the featherweight scrap was official on their official website on Wednesday, while MMA Junkie subsequently confirmed that the matchup would serve as the main event of the evening.
Miller, a highly regarded Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, called “Notorious” out as far back as six months ago and the two competitors have occasionally traded shots on Twitter since then.
After a rough 1-3 stretch between March 2012 and August 2013, the 30-year-old submission specialist has rattled off convincing back-to-back wins over Andy Ogle and Sam Sicilia.
Meanwhile Miller, who held the featherweight and lightweight championships simultaneously under the Cage Warriors FC banner, is riding a 10-fight win streak inside the cage.
His last two victories inside the Octagon were decisive ones over Marcus Brimage and Max Holloway.
Unfortunately for the rising 25-year-old prospect, he tore his ACL in his August bout with Holloway, requiring an extended layoff for surgery and rehab.
Also recently announced for the same card is a welterweight fight between two undefeated up-and-comers in Gunnar Nelson and Ryan LaFlare.
