John Lineker vs. Ian McCall Rescheduled for UFC 183 in January

Two of the UFC’s top flyweights were scheduled to tango earlier this month, and while unforeseen circumstances cancelled the fight last minute, the company has decided they will still cross paths in the Octagon.

John Lineker vs. Ian McCall has been added to UFC 183 on January 31, after a blood infection forced McCall to withdraw from their UFC Fight Night 56 matchup in Brazil after weigh-ins already took place.

MMA Junkie first reported the bout would take place on the Las Vegas pay-per-view on Tuesday.

McCall is the only 125 pounder on the UFC roster who provided a true test for champion Demetrious Johnson, battling him to a draw at UFC on FX 2 in March 2012.

He then lost the rematch in June, before dropping another decision to perennial top contender Joseph Benavidez at UFC 156 in February 2013.

However, “Uncle Creepy” has since rebounded with complete performances against Iliarde Santos and Brad Picket.

Meanwhile, Lineker has won five of his past six fights, but has missed weight in three of his seven UFC appearances and needed two tries to hit 126 pounds at the UFC Fight Night 56 weigh-ins.

The heavy-handed striker has recently called for a title shot, but the UFC has been understandably apprehensive in giving him one due to his struggles with the scale.
