Josh Koscheck: GSP Will Be Back, Johny Hendricks Can’t Sell Pay-Per-Views

Former UFC welterweight title challenger Josh Koscheck believes longtime dominant champion Georges St-Pierre will be back since current titleholder, Johny Hendricks, won’t appeal to pay-per-view audiences.

The Dethrone Base Camp co-founder appeared on Friday’s edition of the ESPN Roundtable and explained why he thinks his French-Canadian foe will be back.

"I buy [St-Pierre returning this year]," Koscheck said. "He's got a lot of money, so I don't think he cares either way.”

“Here's the reason he'll fight, though: even though the UFC and St-Pierre have a little bit of a grudge match going on right now, the UFC is going to suck up its ego and pay St-Pierre to come back."

Koscheck battled GSP twice: once losing a somewhat competitive three-round decision at UFC 74 in August 2007, and getting battered over 25 minutes at in a title fight UFC 124 in December 2010.

In their second encounter, “Rush” shattered Koscheck’s orbital bone, which kept him on the shelf for 10 months.

Despite some possible lingering tension between the two, Koscheck thinks it’s blatantly obvious that St-Pierre is a more appearing champ than Hendricks.

"The UFC is losing money at 170 pounds because Johny Hendricks isn't going to sell pay-per-views. We know that. GSP is the pay-per-view king. The UFC will offer him something to come back and fight again. I can guarantee you that. It's all about the money."

Hendricks, who won the vacant title in a five-round war with Robbie Lawler at UFC 171 last week, defeated Koscheck via a debatable split decision at UFC on FOX 3 in May 2012.

Koscheck, a 10-year fight veteran, is on the downside of his career with just a 2-4 mark in his past six fights.

The 36-year-old does not currently have a fight booked with the UFC, most recently suffering a brutal knockout at the hands of top contender Tyron Woodley at UFC 167 in November.
