Immediately after outclassing BJ Penn at UFC on FOX 5 on Saturday, Rory MacDonald made it clear that he wants revenge on Carlos Condit in his next clash inside the Octagon.
“The Natural Born Killer” is happy to oblige according to what his manager, Maki Kawa, said to MMA Weekly on Monday.
"Carlos Condit doesn't back down from any man. If the UFC asks us to fight Rory MacDonald, Carlos will take the fight."
Condit and MacDonald first squared off at UFC 115 in June 2010. “Ares” soundly controlled the action for the first two rounds, but Condit battled back to TKO MacDonald with just seven seconds remaining in the third and final round.
The loss remains the only blemish on the Tristar gym standouts 14-1 MMA record, who has since rallied to win four fights in a row.
On the other hand, Condit had a five-fight win streak snapped at UFC 154 last month when he lost an exciting fight to UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre. GSP, a teammate and training partner of MacDonald, got dropped by a head kick on the third round, but was able to recover and win a clear cut decision.
A rematch would help further establish either fighter as a legitimate contender at 170-pounds. However, MacDonald was called out immediately by former welterweight title challenger Josh Koscheck.
Shortly after MacDonald’s victory on Saturday, Koscheck tweeted:
“Maybe Roy (sic) should fight me??? I Doubt the UFC would want to see him get his ass kicked.”
Which fight provides more intrigue for fight fans: MacDonald vs. Condit II or MacDonald vs. Koscheck?
