Manager: Dan Miller Plans to Return from Neck Surgery in the Fall

Dan Miller has had a tough few years inside and outside the Octagon, as injuries and his son battling kidney disease have both played a big role in his life.

However, according to his manager, Mike Constantino, Miller still has his warrior mentality and plans to return to the Octagon this fall.

Here’s what Constantino told MMA Junkie:

"Dan Miller’s back to training. I contacted (UFC matchmaker) Joe Silva, and we’re looking to (get back) in September. Hopefully anywhere from September on you’ll see Dan Miller back in the octagon."

Miller has been out of action since suffering a TKO loss to Jordan Mein at UFC 158 last March.

Since then, his son received a kidney transplant and Miller required spinal fusion surgery due to lingering neck issues.

The AMA Fight Club product is just 1-3 in his past four fights, and a paltry 3-6 in his past nine matchups.

While the some of those recent losses came to perennial contenders in Chael Sonnen, Demian Maia and Michael Bisping, the loss to Mein was his first to a rising prospect (as well as the first time he was finished with strikes).

What may be a saving grace for Miller is that he dropped down to welterweight in June 2012 and is 1-1 since then.

However, Constantino did not specify if Miller would be returning to the cage at middleweight or welterweight.
