Odds are the number of people that thought Diego Sanchez beat Ross Pearson at UFC Fight Night 42 can be counted on one hand, but in an unfathomable turn of events, that’s exactly what happened.
While “The Nightmare” said he’s open to fighter Pearson in a five round rematch, he has his sights set on a grudge match with Nate Diaz – hoping to square off with the Stockton bad boy at UFC 180 in Mexico City this November.
However, according to Mike Kogan, Diaz’s manager, his camp has absolutely no interest in facing off with Sanchez after such a terrible decision by the judges, per MMA Mania.
"Diego isn't important enough to warrant a response. He should count his lucky stars two retarded judges were watching Oprah reruns while he was fighting and then handed him a win,” Kogan said in a text message.
For those who still haven’t had a chance to see the matchup, Sanchez scaled back his trademark aggression at least a hair and his takedown game just wasn’t there.
While he managed to coax “The Real Deal” into a couple wild exchanges, the original Ultimate Fighter winner was getting countered at will and could not get any consistent offense going at all.
As a matter of fact, Sanchez got dropped with a big right hand in the second round, but Judge Jeff Collins still inexplicably awarded Sanchez the fight 30-27.
Like Sanchez, Diaz is just 1-2 in his past three fights and has been on the sidelines since a knockout over Gray Maynard in November.
Diaz has since been involved with a contract dispute with the UFC and has been subsequently removed from their official rankings, though he remains on the company’s active roster.
