Mark Hunt vs. Roy Nelson Targeted for UFC Fight Night 51 in September

Two heavyweight sluggers are expected to trade some leather at a “Fight Night” event this fall.

MMA Fighting reports that Mark Hunt and Roy Nelson have already agreed to the fight and the UFC plans on announcing the bout shortly.

According to the report, the two portly power punchers will square off at UFC Fight Night 51 on September 20 in Saitama, Japan.

Hunt, a veteran of the Japan-based PRIDE Fighting Championships, last put on a five-round classic with former UFC title challenger Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva at UFC Fight Night 33 in December.

The back-and-forth brawl was a late “Fight of the Year” candidate in 2013.

In his past six fights, “The Super Samoan” has compiled a 4-1-1 record and his only loss came against former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos.

On the other hand, Nelson is 4-2 in his past six bouts, absolutely demolishing another ex-PRIDE star, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC Fight Night 39 in April.

The victory snapped a two-fight losing streak, where Nelson was thoroughly dominated by top contenders Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier.

The Saitama Super Center last hosted a UFC card at UFC on FUEL 8 in March of last year, where Hunt scored a brutal TKO over Stefan Struve.
