Two welterweight sluggers are set to throw down at a yet to be named May 10 event as the featured bout on the card.
Surging welterweight contender Matt Brown is set to square off with Brazilian bomber Erick Silva at the event, in Cincinnati, Ohio at the U.S. Bank Arena, FOX Sports first reported on Tuesday.
“The Immortal” has the longest active win streak in the UFC’s welterweight division, boasting six straight victories inside the Octagon (five (T)KO’s) since February 2012.
Brown, the no. 7 ranked welterweight according to the UFC’s official rankings, was set to face former interim UFC champ Carlos Condit at UFC on FOX 9 in December in an unofficial title eliminator bout, but withdrew due to a back injury.
Meanwhile, the 29-year-old Silva has been a mixed bag since debuting with the UFC in August 2011, posting a 4-3 record since that time.
Most recently, Silva absolutely steamrolled Takenori Sato at UFC Fight Night 36 last month, scoring a TKO victory in under a minute.
The Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt is yet to win two fights in a row under the UFC banner and is yet to defeat a ranked opponent.
While the matchup all but promises to have a finish, it is a bit of a curious one for Brown since he was likely onebig win away from a title shot.
A win over an unranked opponent like Silva will likely do little for his stock.
