MMA News: One-Armed Fighter Nick Newell Wins XFC Lightweight Title

“Notorious” Nick Newell has beaten all the odds and won the Xtreme Fighting Championship Lightweight Title.

Newell, who is missing his left arm just past the elbow, defeated Bellator veteran Eric Reynolds via a first round rear naked choke to capture his first taste of gold as a professional mixed martial artist.

The victory improves Newell’s undefeated record to 9-0, with eight of his nine wins coming via stoppage.

The loss snaps a three-fight win streak for Reynolds, who has previously been stopped by former Bellator 155-pound kingpin Eddie Alvarez and Strikeforce title challenger Jorge Masvidal.

A video of the fight can be watched here, courtesy of AXS TV.

Could Newell possibly pave his way into the UFC in 2013 or is he still a long ways away from debuting for the world’s premiere mixed martial arts organization?
