Boxing legend Muhammad Ali decided to have a friendly dialogue with UFC President Dana White on Twitter Thursday morning and White wasn't shy about hiding his excitement in the matter.
Ali tweeted a picture of him attacking a fighter on the ground with the accompanying text:
“What you think @DanaWhite? Muhammad Ali - the original #MMA fighter? @ufc,” Ali asked.
To say White responded with heavy praise for the boxing legend would be an understatement.
“.@MuhammadAli U sir are the original EVERYTHING! Ur the reason combat sports is where it is 2day Greatest tweet ive ever recieved Im honored,” White replied.
Shortly afterwards, White sent out a tweet out to his over 2.8 million followers encouraging them to do the same for “The Greatest.”
“I had no idea @MuhammadAli was on twitter! Follow The Greatest!!,” White wrote.
According to Bleacher Report, “The picture Ali tweeted was of his 1976 fight against Japanese professional wrestler Antonio Inoki in Tokyo, Japan. The fight was fought with special rules and is considered a precursor to modern MMA.”
Ali, 72, the only three-time lineal World Heavyweight Champion, retired December 1981 after suffering back-to-back losses, though still boasts an incredible 56-5 record inside the ring.
