Former UFC lightweight title challenger Nate Diaz is heated that two fighters he already beat are headlining UFC on FOX 45 tonight and he is making it personal with one of the competitors.
On Monday, the Cesar Gracie Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt fired off a hateful tweet in the direction of Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, whom he beat via a lopsided decision at UFC 141 in December 2011.
“Some people suck way too much #UFCd*** … an they where Cowboys hats,” Diaz wrote without any censorship of his own.
In his weekly interview on UFC.com’s The Download column, White fired back at Diaz and mocked him for opting to sit on the sidelines since a November 2013 TKO win over Gray Maynard.
“… Nate can sit out and not suck any UFC whatever, for as long as he wants to. Who cares, he's a grown man," White said. "Sit out for as long as you want, sit out the rest of your career, it's your decision.
”But to start making fun of guys who actually like to fight, and guys who go out there and put on unbelievable fights and people love to see him? (Cowboy) steps up and does what he does. People love Cowboy Cerrone … Nate wants to talk about making money, but there's only one way to make money, and that's fighting."
Diaz has been on icy terms with the company for the majority of this year, demanding a more lucrative contract and title fights – even though he’s just 1-2 in his past three fights.
The Stockton bad boy, who is no longer included in the UFC’s official rankings due to inactivity, has also asked to be released from his contract this year but White would not entertain that scenario.
