Rashad Evans: Alistair Overeem Would ‘Lose and Blame Everybody but Himself’

Former UFC light heavyweight champion is apathetic about the fact that heavyweight contender Alistair Overeem is switching gyms; since he believes “The Demolition” went out of his way to isolate himself from his teammates.

“Suga” expressed his feelings on the situation in an interview with Blood Elbow on Friday.

"Alistair was one of those guys who was on the team but never really committed to being part of it. He would run his own camps, bring in his own guys, train by himself, so him going somewhere else won't make much difference, it isn't a huge loss,” Evans said.

“The funny thing was, he would run his own camps and bring his own people in, then go out there and lose and blame everybody but himself. So now if he goes to Jackson's and doesn't learn to open up and step out of himself then he is going to get the same results.”

Up until last week, Evans and Overeem had been training at Blackzilians camp in Boca Raton, Florida.

After debuting with the UFC in December 2011 on the strength of an 11-fight unbeaten streak, “The Reem” is 2-2 in his past four bouts.

While he was soundly handling Antonio Silva and Travis Brown in each of his respective 2013 encounters, he ended up being knocked out cold on both occasions.

Overeem has opted to work with Greg Jackson’s MMA team in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where Browne is expected to be one of his regular sparring partners.

The hulking heavyweight is currently awaiting a fight, last competing against Frank Mir at UFC 169 in February, winning a clear-cut decision over the former UFC champ.
