Report: Former UFC Welterweight Chris Lytle in Negotiations to Box Roy Jones, Jr.

UFC welterweight Chris Lytle has been retired for nearly three years, but he appears to be on the comeback trial.

However, his return will not be inside the Octagon.

According to UFC Tonight, “Lights Out” is negotiating to box the legendary Roy Jones, Jr.

Despite being 45 years old, RJJ has won his last three fights, most recently capturing the WBU Cruiserweight title after winning a unanimous decision over Zine Eddine Benmakhlouf in Russia back in December.

Jones Jr. is 5-4 in his past nine scraps and has an incredible 57-8 professional record inside the ring.

Meanwhile, Lytle stepped away from combat sports after competing inside the cage a rarely-seen 54 times, posting a 31-18-5 record overall.

The Indiana native, who unsuccessfully ran for State Senate in 2012, retired after submitting former UFC welterweight title challenger Dan Hardy at UFC on Versus 5 in August 2011.

Lytle earned 10 “Fight Night” bonuses in 20 appearances (10-10 UFC record) inside the Octagon.

Ariel Helwani indicated that Lytle, 39, would only take the boxing matchup as a “one and done” type of deal and has no plans to return to MMA afterwards.
