Rumor: Will WWE Superstar Brock Lesnar Return to the UFC in 2014?

Love him or hate him, it’s tough to deny that WWE superstar Brock Lesnar is one of the best 300-pound athletes on the planet.

However, could fight fans possible be expected to buy into the notion that the former UFC heavyweight champion could make his return to the Octagon in the New Year?

According to the Underground (mixedmartialarts.com) user “hammers hamil,” Lesnar is considering returning to the cage on a limited basis.

“This is no means offical but brock has the itch too comeback last year he said he would not but things have changed... Brock is feeling good healthy strong brocks not interested in the title I have been told he wants big money one off fights on a limited part time basis...,” he wrote on Tuesday.

“Brock will not be leaving wwe he is interested in doing both and it seem wwe will give him premission to take fights during how downtime with wwe as brock is on a pay per apperance deal and has a certain amount of dates too fullfill in a one year term...”

The hulking 36-year-old Minnesota native hasn’t stepped into the cage since suffering a brutally lopsided TKO at the hands of Alistair Overeem at UFC 141.

Brought into the UFC after just one victory on the regional scene, Lesnar lost a bout against ex-heavyweight titleholder Frank Mir at UFC 81 in February 2008 – a matchup he was clearly winning before getting caught in a kneebar.

However, after that, the former two-time NCAA All-American wrestler rattled off three straight victories, including a decisive TKO victory over Mir at UFC 100 in July 2009.

Lesnar had the look of an invincible champion after just one title defense (he won the belt from Randy Couture in November 2008), however, that all changed when he dealt with a bout of diverticulitis – a debilitating digestive disease.

Somehow, Lesnar managed to fight again at UFC 116 in July 2010, scoring an impressive come-from-behind submission victory over Shane Carwin.

After losing the belt to Cain Velasquez three months later, Lesnar had another bout with diverticulitis in which 12 inches of his colon were removed.

Once billed as “The Next Big Thing,” Lesnar clearly didn’t look like himself in the Overeem bout and retired from professional fighting. He has since been a part-time employee with the WWE, performing a handful of times per year.

Will Lesnar actually go for one last hurrah slinging leather or is he content making his money inside the ring until he calls it a career?
