Top 10 UFC middleweight Tim Kennedy is itching for a grudge match with Michael Bisping and he doesn’t mind using his mouth to help make the fight happen.
Both fighters appeared on AXS TV’s Inside MMA via satellite on Friday, and needless to say, the interaction was not a cordial one.
“I've been in the UFC for eight years. I've never turned down an opponent yet. When you were in basic training shining shoes, I was in the UFC kicking ass. So, if you think I'm intimidated by you, come on, get a grip. It's a little bit silly,” Bisping said.
Kennedy wasted no time in firing back:
“Thank God we've had soldiers shining shoes since 1775 so we don't have to sound like that guy, that's horrific … He's a dirty fighter. He eye pokes. He knees downed opponents.”
“He spits on their corners. He complains about guys doing TRT, but truthfully, the things he does in the cage are even worse. I haven't been calling him out, I've been pointing out that he's a dirty fighter, and he takes offense to that.”
For the sake of clarity, Bisping’s most recent win over Alan Belcher in April was a technical decision, as “The Talent” was poked in the eye with just 31 seconds left in the bout and was unable to continue.
As for his victory over Jorge Rivera at UFC 127 in February 2011, Bisping landed an illegal knee to a downed opponent in the first round, which made the referee deduct a point and half the action as Rivera recovered.
That all made little difference in the final outcome, as Bisping scored a TKO in the second round, spitting at Rivera’s corner after the fact due to the bad blood between the two competitors.
Will Kennedy get the chance to put a stop to Bisping’s trash talk once and for all or will the English superstar be able to back up his pre-fight hype?
