Tito Ortiz on Working for Dana White: ‘I Thought Slavery Was Over a Long Time Ago’

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz is obviously not a big fan of his old boss, UFC President Dana White.

In a sit down with Sports Illustrated, “The People’s Champion” spit some verbal venom at White:

"Umm, I know I thought slavery was over a long time ago." Ortiz said. "It's just one of those things that you can't trust a word that a man says, and when you can't do that, how can you work for him?"

His upcoming opponent for the first Bellator pay-per-view on November 2, Quinton Jackson, echoed his sentiment, though did not use equally harsh language.

“He's the type of the guy that will force you into a fight after a surgery and if you don't perform really well in the fight or you lose, he will talk crap about you in the media. Who wants to fight for a person like that?"

Ortiz vs. “Rampage” has become a running joke against most MMA fans, given that between the two veteran fighters, they have score one victory in their past 10 fights.

Jackson, another ex-UFC light heavyweight champ, worked his way up to another title shot against Jon Jones at UFC 135 in September 2011.

The heavy-handed brawler was not able to return to his vintage form after that, dropping back-to-back unanimous decisions to Ryan Bader and Glover Teixeira.

Meanwhile, Ortiz, one of the pioneers of the sport, was just 1-7-1 in his last nine fights before retiring last July after a close decision loss to Forrest Griffin at UFC 148.
