TJ Grant: Anthony Pettis is ‘Low Class’ For Trying to Cut in Line for a Title Shot

Upcoming UFC lightweight title challenger TJ Grant really let Anthony Pettis have it over his recent campaign to try and take his title shot at UFC 164 this August.

"Unfortunately he got hurt but it was low class, I thought,” Grant said on ESPN’s UFC Podcast Tuesday afternoon.

“I didn't want to get into the whole talking thing. I got here legitimately and earned it. Ultimately, what he was saying was that he wanted my title shot which was incredibly disrespectful. It was pretty dirty.”

Following UFC 161 earlier this month, “Showtime” began an aggressive campaign asking for a rematch with lightweight champ Benson Henderson.

Pettis is the last man to defeat “Bendo,” capturing the WEC’s 155-pound belt in a thrilling five-round affair back in December 2010.

Since then Henderson, has rattled off seven straight wins under the UFC banner.

As far as Grant goes, he has gone a perfect 5-0 since dropping down to lightweight, most recently scoring a shocking a first round TKO over perennial 155-pound contender Gray Maynard at UFC 160 last month.

Pettis was going to make his featherweight debut against champion Jose Aldo at UFC 163, also set for August, but had to pull out due to a knee injury.

He had his sights set on Henderson in hopes of a quick turnaround from the injury, also being intrigued by the fact that UFC 164 takes place in his hometown of Milwaukee.

Would the fans have preferred to see Pettis vs. Henderson II, or was Grant vs. Henderson the right call from the beginning?
