UFC president Dana White hasn’t spoken to former UFC light heavyweight staple Stephan Bonnar since he failed his post-UFC 153 drug test for the anabolic steroid Drostanolone.
However, according to White, “The American Psycho’s” motivation to use the performance-enhancing drug was a little unorthodox by MMA standards (via MMA Weekly).
“He wasn’t planning on fighting. He said that he was practicing to maybe do some pro wrestling and whatever the excuse is. I’ve known Stephan for a long time. We have a great relationship. Tell me.”
Could Bonnar vs. The Undertaker be a realistic possibility in 2013? Whether it is or not, Bonnar was semi-retired when he accepted his bout with Anderson Silva on just a few weeks notice.
White said the situation “sucks” since Bonnar did not inform him of the situation prior to positive drug test coming back.
The UFC acted as their own athletic commission since UFC 153 took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and handed down a 12-month suspension to The American Psycho, though it is little more than a formality since Bonnar confirmed his retirement days after the loss.
Would the 35-year-old Indiana native make a charismatic WWE star or should he keep his head in the fight game somewhere behind the scenes?
