Perennial title contender Diego Sanchez hasn’t stepped foot in the cage since a February decision loss to Jake Ellenberger, but he caught a lot of fight fans attention on Saturday when he tweeted a slew of insults at Nick and Nate Diaz.
The first tweet (via BJPenn.com) which has since been deleted, reads:
“@nickdiaz209 I WHOOPED YOUR ASS OUNCE AND I’LL DO IT AGAIN… I’D RATHER WHOOP YOUR LIL BRO’S ASS AFTER HE LOOSES 12/8 AIN’T SCARED AT ALL”
Sanchez defeated Nick Diaz via unanimous decision at the “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 2 Finale in Nov. 2005, also referencing Nate Diaz’s upcoming lightweight title shot against Benson Henderson at UFC on FOX 6.
The Greg Jackson’s MMA product was only getting started with the verbal venom at that point. The next tweet says:
“YOU KNOW @nickdiaz209 IS NOT GOING TO RESPOND DON'T BE SCARED B*TCH”
The Diaz brothers are strangers to trash talk themselves, so when they surprisingly did not acknowledge the hateful tweets, it only further motivated Sanchez to keep the disses coming.
“YOU KNOW HE IS CALLING @CEASERGRACIE WHAT DO I SAY WHAT DO I DO ? DIEGO IS TALKING SH*T..... PLEASE HELP ME DADDY”
The Diaz brothers train at the Cesar Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Lodi, California. As it turns out, the former lightweight title challenger isn’t a fan of Gracie either.
“@CEASERGRACIEBJJ AIN'T MY HOMIE !”
For a moment, it looked like the zany Twitter outburst was all a hoax.
“My Twitter just got hacked”
However, don’t underestimate Diego’s sense of humor.
“No NOT REALLY”
As of Tuesday afternoon, neither the Diaz brothers nor Cesar Gracie responded to any of Sanchez’s trash talk.
Sanchez plans to return to the lightweight division in early 2013, should Nate Diaz lose his title bid against “Bendo”, would this be a fight the fans want to see?
