Former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson decided he didn’t want to deal with Chael Sonnen’s antics for weeks on end as they coached opposite one another on “The Ultimate Fighter.”

MMA Fighting reported on Thursday that Jackson turned down the offer, eventually leading to the UFC’s reigning 205-pound champion Jon Jones accepting the head coaching gig.

"Forget TUF," Jackson told MMAFighting.com. "I'm not interested in that…I don't want to fight Chael. He's the kind of fighter that I don't want to fight. He's a boring fighter that just wants to hump people."

UFC president Dana White also told MMA Fighting that Sonnen was interested in coaching opposite Jackson and looked forward to their eventual showdown in the Octagon.

Jackson is no stranger to “The Ultimate Fighter,” head coaching against Forrest Griffin during the show’s seventh season and then against Rashad Evans during season 10 of the series.

Rampage is currently linked to a fight with rising star Glover Teixeira, though he would prefer a rematch with Griffin. Griffin won the light heavyweight strap from Jackson at UFC 86 in July 2008 via a closely contested decision.

Jackson has not fought since February where he lost a one-sided decision to Ryan Bader at UFC 144. He also came into the bout six pounds over weight, automatically forfeiting 20 percent of his purse to Bader.

Which coaching pairing would have been more intriguing for TUF: Sonnen vs. Jones or Sonnen vs. Jackson?
