Looks like more fighters should call out their next opponent when getting interviewed by UFC color commentator Joe Rogan.
Rising welterweight contender Rory MacDonald told MMA Junkie Radio on Wednesday that he has been granted his rematch with Carlos Condit, scheduled for UFC 158 in March. UFC president Dana White confirmed the news with the media outlet as well.
“"In Montreal – I got exactly what I wanted…..you can't get what you don't ask for. I'm very, very happy,” McDonald said on the show.
The event will take place at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The first time the two met in Canada (Vancouver, British Colombia) at UFC 115 in June 2010, Condit finished MacDonald with just seven seconds left in the third and final round.
Despite losing the bout, “Ares” dominated Condit for the first two rounds of the fight.
MacDonald has won four straight since the lone loss of his career, easily picking apart UFC legend BJ Penn on Saturday in his most recent match up at UFC on FOX 5 last week.
Meanwhile, Condit gave 170-pound champion Georges St-Pierre his toughest test in years last month at UFC 154, nearly finishing MacDonald’s Tristar Gym teammate in the third round with a head kick.
“The Natural Born Killer” still lost a clear-cut decision though, snapping a five-fight win streak.
Malki Kawa, Condit’s manager, told MMA Weekly on Tuesday that his client would gladly accept a MacDonald rematch if offered. Looks like the Greg Jackson’s MMA product kept his word.
