‘Uncle Creepy’ Ian McCall: ‘I’ve Kind of Blown my UFC Career so Far’

UFC flyweight contender Ian McCall entered the UFC with a solid 11-2 record, riding a four-fight win streak.

However, “Uncle Creepy” has posted just a 0-2-1 record since stepping inside the Octagon, so his UFC 163 bout against Iliarde Santos next week is a must-win scenario.

McCall gave his thoughts on his current predicament to MMA Weekly content partner Knockout Radio on Wednesday.

"I'm in a much better place. You know, I've kind of blown my UFC career so far, but now it's time to earn what's rightfully mine,” McCall said.

“I've always been physically ready. Every fight, I've always been in shape. I've always been there. Just for me it's a mental thing because I can be a head case and that really has been what's gotten me down in the past, but I took personal steps in my personal life, new relationships, new whatever it may be to just change for the better.”

McCall, currently ranked the number 3 flyweight in the world in the UFC’s official rankings, has already had two epic battles with reigning 125-pound champ Demetrious Johnson.

After fighting “Mighty Mouse” to a highly-debated draw at UFC on FX 2 last March, the two competitors were ready for a quick turnaround to settle the score at UFC on FX 3 in June.

Johnson’s cardio was the deciding factor in this one, winning a competitive unanimous decision.

On paper, the former Tachi Palace Fights titleholder faces a much easier match up on August 3 in Santos, who was knocked out by Iuri Alcantara in his UFC debut in May.
