4 Most Disappointing Fantasy Basketball Players Heading Into the Second Half

1. Zach Randolph, Forward, Memphis Grizzlies

Stats: 14.2 PPG, 8.0 RPG

Randolph has struggled a great deal this season. It even got to the point where Memphis relegated him to bench duties. That's had a direct impact on his fantasy production. A year after finishing as the 11th-best fantasy forward, Randolph heads into the season's second half ranked 27th in that category.

While Randolph has put up an average of 40 fantasy points in his past three outings, he's tallied last than 25 points in 11 of his past 19 games. That's nowhere near what many expected the former All-Star to be at this point in the season.

2. Derrick Rose, Guard, Chicago Bulls

Stats: 15.9 PPG, 3.5 RPG, 4.8 APG and 2.7 TPG

While Rose has been banged up to an extent, he has found a way to play in all but seven of Chicago's games this season. Outside of a substandard shooting percentage (41%), the major issue here from a fantasy perspective has been Rose's extremely pedestrian assist-to-turnover ratio, which stands at just 1.78, which is on par with each of the past three years.

It might simply be time to look at Rose as nothing more than a potential bargain option when he's facing lackluster fantasy defenses. As the 35th-best fantasy guard heading into the second half of the year, even that might be a reach. This is how much the former MVP has dropped off in recent years.

3. Tobias Harris, Forward, Orlando Magic

Stats: 13.7 PPG and 7.0 RPG

A year after averaging over 17 points, Harris has seen his scoring drop by nearly four points per game. That's absolutely absurd considering the scoring vacuum that needs to be filled on an otherwise struggling Magic offense.

With less than 30 fantasy points in all seven games heading into the All-Star break, it appears that Harris' relevance from a fantasy perspective will continue to be on the downswing in the second half of the season. That's only magnified by the fact that he's only put up 30-plus fantasy points five times since Christmas. Let that sink in for a second before considering him as a value option in DFS contests.

4. Monta Ellis, Guard, Indiana Pacers

Stats: 13.9 PPG, 3.0 RPG, 4.8 APG and 1.8 SPG

When Indiana signed Ellis last summer it was with the belief that he could act as a second scorer behind Paul George. Through the season's first half, that simply hasn't happened. Ellis is averaging his lowest point total since he was a rookie out of high school back in 2005-06. In the process, he's disappointed pretty much every fantasy owner who had high expectations for him.

Now the 20th-best fantasy guard after finishing last season in the top 12, Ellis is seemingly irrelevant from a DFS perspective outside of days with limited slates. That's just how much he's failed to fit into Indiana's system.
