Likely battling for a playoff spot out west for the remainder of the season, the Utah Jazz suffered a major setback over the weekend.
Reports suggest that shooting guard Alec Burks will be out for an undetermined amount of time after he suffered a fractured fibula against the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday.
Initial indications during the game were that Burks suffered a sprained ankle to go with what was immediately diagnosed as a concussion. Upon further review, it appears that his injury is more serious.
While the team wouldn't give a timetable for Burks' return, indications are that he will be out from 6-to-8 weeks at the minimum.
Burks, the 12th overall pick back in 2011, was averaging 14.3 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists while shooting just 41 percent from the field prior to the injury. Burks is the Jazz' third-leading scorer and top player off the bench.
Remember, he missed 55 games with a shoulder injury last season.
With Burks out, Rodney Hood should see an increase in action from the 29 minutes he's currently averaging per game.
