Out since Christmas with a quad injury, Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin got himself in a load of crap last month when he broke his hand during a spat with a member of the team's equipment staff.
At the time of the incident, there wasn't a whole bunch of information available, as the Clippers did a good job keeping it under wraps.
After an investigation that lasted a couple weeks, the team has decided to suspend Griffin for four games. Here's part of their press release announcing the action:
"The L.A. Clippers announced today that forward Blake Griffin has been suspended without pay for four games for striking a team employee on Jan. 23 and his wages will be withheld for one additional game for injuries he sustained. The NBA has assisted us in this process.
We have made it clear that this conduct has no place in the Clippers organization. Blake is remorseful and has apologized for his actions. He is a valued member of our Clippers family and we support him as he rejoins the team."
There still is no timetable for Griffin's return from the hand injury. He was sidelined with the aforementioned quad injury at the time of the incident.
In the weeks following Griffin's unfortunate actions, there has been speculation regarding his future in Los Angeles. Though, it doesn't look as if a trade will be worked out by the time next week's trade deadline comes calling.
The Clippers currently find themselves as the fourth seed in the Western Conference with a 35-17 record.
