It just so happens to be Thursday, the saddest day of the week for NBA games. Today actually brings us a much more exciting Thursday then normal with four whole games on the schedule compared to the usual two or three. With trash can fire teams playing in the Lakers, Bucks and 76ers, it is bound to be an exciting one.
Point Guard:
Star – Chris Paul, $9,600: Paul has had two subpar performances in a row now and actually missed all 12 of his field goal attempts last night. This may look like unsettling information but for a player of Paul’s talent and ego this is a huge motivator to perform tonight. Jose Calderon is a bad defender on a good night.
Stud – Ramon Sessions, $5,700: The Bucks rotation will continue to be a bit funky as coach Larry Drew is a daily fantasy basketball player’s nightmare. Sessions is coming off a massive game where he scored 44.7 fantasy points and gets another juicy matchup tonight versus the Lakers where he will continue to ride that momentum. With Nate Wolters done for the year Sessions minutes are going to be much more guaranteed making him a much “safer” play.
Scrub - Patrick Beverley, $5,200: The 76ers point guard defense is giving up a ridiculous average of 21.8 points and 10.7 assists a game to opposing point guards this season. Previous to an off game versus the Bobcats Beverley had put up 20+ fantasy points four games in a row.
Shooting Guard:
Star – James Harden, $9,400: There is little doubt the Rockets versus 76ers game will get ugly tonight, do not let that scare you away from the Rockets starters. In order for a team to blow out another team the starters usually have some massive stat lines, even if they only see three quarters of play. In the 76ers embarrassing 45 point loss to the Clippers earlier this season Blake Griffin still posted 26 points, 11 rebounds and six assists in only 25 minutes of action.
Stud – Kent Bazemore, $4,800: Bazemore’s minutes have continued to be there in a constantly evolving Mike D’Antoni rotation which is always solid for daily fantasy basketball purposes. He has hit value in seven of his last ten games, which is great consistency for a four game night.
Scrub - Xavier Henry, $4,500: Regardless of Henry’s wrist problems he is not letting it slow him down on the basketball court. He is packing a nice scoring punch for the Lakers keeping him in D’Antoni’s favor, and in daily fantasy basketball lineups everywhere.
Small Forward:
Star – Chandler Parsons, $6,600: Small forward is ugly today on such a small slate of NBA games, luckily for us Parsons gets to play the 76ers tonight. The 76ers are the worst team in the NBA in terms of defensive efficiency versus opposing small forwards over the last ten games, and the second worst team on the season.
Stud – DeMarre Carroll, $5,900: Get used to seeing Carroll. Unless there is a large slate of NBA games, and sometimes even when there is, it is hard to get away from him and his consistencies. He rarely makes your lineup something special, but he also rarely breaks it. 22+ fantasy points scored in nine of his last ten games played.
Scrub - Ryan Kelly, $4,700: I wish the price was a bit cheaper but with Pau Gasol out of the rotation Kelly is seeing more minutes once again. Gasol is confirmed out once again for tonight, which will give Kelly a great opportunity against a badly defended frontcourt.
Power Forward:
Star – Blake Griffin, $10,300: Griffin has scored 40+ fantasy points in eight of his last ten games with both of those games being 35+ fantasy point performances. Tonight’s game versus the Mavericks will be a fun game to watch, but more importantly it will be high scoring. High scoring games always lead to daily fantasy basketball gold.
Stud – Thaddeus Young, $8,300: The Rockets are a bottom ten team defending opposing power forwards this season and Young happens to be one of the lone bright spots for the 76ers.
Scrub - Mike Scott, $3,900: Scott started for the Hawks last night and was actually their highest scoring player with 15 points in what ended as an ugly loss to the Timberwolves. With Kyle Korver and Pero Antic’s status for tonight’s game up in the air Scott will be sure to find some minutes on the court at one position or another. This gives him some great upside for his price.
Center:
Star – DeAndre Jordan, $7,700: With Dwight Howard a bit banged up Jordan gets the nod as the top center tonight. He is averaging an absurd 13.7 rebounds a game this year and in games where he gets some offense going he puts up big fantasy lines. In tonight’s affair versus an undersized Mavericks front court getting that offense going should not be an issue, he posted a big 25 point 18 rebound game versus them already this year.
Stud – Robin Lopez, $5,900: It looks as though LaMarcus Aldridge may return tonight which will begin to effect Lopez’s status a bit going forward. Tonight is not the night to shy away. The Hawks frontcourt is an injury riddled mess which will equal more fantasy success for the player resembling Sideshow Bob, and Aldridge will likely be eased back into the rotation in what should be an easy win for the Trail Blazers.
Scrub - Chris Kaman, $5,300: There will be no Gasol once again for the Lakers tonight opening up Kaman’s minutes in a great matchup versus the Bucks.
Good luck tonight. Be sure to follow both @eDraftSports and me @Cui2iousGeoi2ge
