The NBA playoffs are now just days away with Wednesday being the final day of this NBA regular season. The most important game tonight is hands down the Grizzlies versus the Suns as they are fighting over the last playoff seed in the Western Conference. Point Guard:
Star – Mike Conley, $7,000: As stated above, the Grizzlies are in a must win game tonight. Conley has scored 33+ fantasy points a game in four of his last five games with the one game he missed the mark being a blowout win over the 76ers he was not needed in.
Stud – Phil Pressey, $4,200: In Pressey’s last three starts for the Celtics he has averaged 35.3 fantasy points a game, and he has a very realistic chance of starting once gain tonight in a great matchup versus the 76ers. Rajon Rondo is dealing with a shin bruise and has zero reason to return tonight due to the Celtics season being over on Wednesday. If Rondo misses tonight’s game get Pressey into your lineup in a hurry.
Scrub – Derek Fisher, $3,500: Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook is still not playing on back to backs ruling him out tonight after playing versus the Pacers yesterday. Reggie Jackson is Westbrook’s normal replacement but he is also quite questionable to play due to a neck injury suffered yesterday. This leaves the 39-year-old Fisher as the last point guard standing for the Thunder tonight if Jackson is declared out, and he is a wonderful minimum price.
Shooting Guard:
Star – Eric Bledsoe $7,800: Bledsoe is doing his best to single handedly carry the Suns into the playoffs averaging 43 fantasy points a game over his last five games. If the Suns lose tonight the Grizzlies are headed to the playoffs, Bledsoe will do everything in his power to prevent that from happening.
Scrub – Austin Rivers, $5,000: The Pelicans have run out of healthy players causing rivers to play a massive amount of minutes the last three games. Rivers has posted 31+ fantasy points in each of those three games with a 35.1 fantasy point game versus the Thunder, the same team they play tonight.
Scrub - Anthony Morrow, $5,000: Morrow is Rivers current backcourt mate due to the injury situation in New Orleans and has posted 23+ fantasy points in six of his last seven games. The one game of underachieving came versus the same Thunder team the Pelicans play tonight reserving Morrow for tournament play only.
Small Forward:
Star – Kawhi Leonard, $6,700: There is always the danger of Coach Pop resting a player, but he usually rests Tony Parker, Tim Duncan or Manu Ginobli, which should make Leonard a bit “safer” tonight. The Spurs play a fast paced Rockets team in what should be a decently high scoring affair and Leonard has posted 36+ fantasy points in three of his last four games.
Stud – Jeff Green, $5,900: The last time the Celtics played the 76ers Green posted a measly 21.3 fantasy points, a total he will have little issue surpassing tonight. The 76ers are the second worst team in the NBA this season in defensive efficiency versus opposing small forwards giving Green an excellent opportunity tonight to show some more upside.
Scrub - Wesley Johnson, $4,500: It would be a bit of a lofty expectation to think Johnson is going to pull down 15 rebounds again tonight, but he will be in for a solid game regardless. The matchup versus the Jazz is a good one and Johnson will see big minutes once again in an injury riddled Lakers rotation.
Power Forward:
Star – Zach Randolph, $7,200: Another player from the all-important Suns versus Grizzlies game tonight. Randolph underperformed versus the Lakers last night, but will bounce back tonight versus a Suns team he averages 20 points, 14 rebounds and 3.5 assists a game versus this season.
Stud – Jordan Hill, $6,400: It looks as though Lakers’ coach Mike D’Antoni is done playing rotation roulette this season and Hill should be in like for big minutes the Lakers last two games. When Hill plays big minutes Hill scores big fantasy points.
Scrub - Marrese Speights, $4,100: Bit of a news watch on Speights here, but he may be the last man standing at center for the Warriors tonight. Andrew Bogut did not finish yesterday’s overtime thriller versus the Trail Blazers due to an injury and Jermaine O’Neal is likely to see a severe minutes restriction tonight on the back to back, if he even plays at all.
Center:
Star – Al Jefferson, $9,900: Not a word on the Bobcats resting their superstar center making him my favorite daily fantasy basketball plays tonight. Jefferson has scored at least 43 fantasy points a game for five games in a row now and gets a great matchup tonight versus the Hawks.
Stud – Gorgui Dieng, $6,400: In the last two games Dieng has posted at least 45 fantasy points in each game. The strength of the matchup tonight is going to come down to the availability or Bogut, but at a $6,000 price tag he is tough to pass up either way.
Scrub – Kyle O’Quinn $5,300: The Magic have decided that Nikola Vucevic will be shut down for the last week of the Magic’s season. This will give O’Quinn a nice bump in upside, but due to the strength of both Dieng and Jefferson tonight O”Quinn should be reserved for alternate tournament teams only.
