Point Guard:
Star – Chris Paul, $9,700: Paul has two very similarly priced stars at his position today in Russell Westbrook and Stephen Curry, but Paul is the top point guard today. The Warriors versus Clippers game has the highest over/under of the day at 211.5 points and in three games versus the Warriors this season Paul has averaged 28 points and 13 assists a game.
Scrub – George Hill, $4,300: Clearly Hill has not been the most electrifying point guard this season, but you are going to need to find places to save money during the star studded playoffs. Hill needs less then 25 fantasy points to value at his low price and does carry some nice upside. Shaun Livingston also could have a nice game and is “supposed” to play today, but since these plays are being written the night before check your news about him first!
Shooting Guard:
Star – DeMar DeRozen $7,600: Pretty easily the top shooting guard play today, and also the most expensive. DeRozen averaged a very respectable 22 points, five rebounds and three assists a game versus the Nets this season and will continue his breakout season into the playoffs.
Scrub - J.J. Redick, $4,500: Career year in scoring for Redick this season as he averaged 15.2 points a game in his first year with the Clippers, this total could have easily been higher without his injuries woes. He is “feeling good and ready” for the playoffs which will mean wonderful things for his fantasy numbers at a discounted price in a high scoring round one versus the Warriors.
Small Forward:
Scrub – Paul Pierce, $5,400: Two scrubs at small forward today, because good luck fitting in Kevin Durant and still having a decent team with so many stars and so little scrubs available for the playoffs. Pierce will step up his game in the playoffs, as he must versus a stout Raptors team. Through four meetings versus the Nets this year Pierce averaged 20 points a game, which bodes well for him round one as he only averaged 13.5 points a game this year.
Scrub - Draymond Green, $5,200: Since the Warriors will be without Andrew Bogut and Jermaine O’Neal can only play limited minutes, there will be a lot of small lineups featuring Green for the Warriors for as long as they remain in the playoffs.
Power Forward:
Star – David Lee, $7,000: A price tag of $7,000 is absurdly low for a player of Lee’s caliber and will not remain there for long. His low price tag is from a recent stint with a hamstring injury, but he is feeling well again and with Bogut out of the lineup Lee will step up in a big way.
Scrub - Mason Plumlee, $5,100: Hard to know Kevin Garnett’s minutes allotment for the playoffs, but with Plumlee playing at a high level you can expect him to still see a healthy amount of minutes. To end the regular season Plumlee scored 21+ fantasy points seven games in a row.
Center:
Star – DeAndre Jordan, $7,500: The news of Bogut being out for the Warriors does wonderful things to Jordan’s upside in what will be one of the highest scoring series round one. In four games versus the Warriors this year Jordan averaged 10 points and 15 rebounds a game. His rebounds will remain high and his point total should increase without the defense of Bogut slowing him down.
Scrub – Jermaine O’Neal $4,200: O’Neal will surely have his minutes watched throughout the playoffs, but today is game one. No Bogut will leave O’Neal attempting to cover Jordan for as many minutes as coach Mark Jackson will let him play.
