We shouldn't expect too much in his first game as a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers, but it will be interesting to see how Deron Williams fits into the team's rotation. Williams, who was just signed as a free agent after the Dallas Mavericks waived him late last month, will make his Cavaliers debut against the Boston Celtics on Wednesday.
Cleveland has long been in the market for a backup point guard to Kyrie Irving — an interest that LeBron James magnified recently be indicating the need to enhance the team's bench.
In 40 games with Dallas prior to being waived, Williams was averaging 13.1 points and 6.9 assists in 29.3 minutes of action per game. With likely less minutes to go around in Cleveland, his numbers are surely set to increase. Though, his presence could change the team's rotation.
It's definitely something to keep an eye on initially.
