Fantasy Basketball: Most Surprising Point Guards Heading Into 2017

Eric Bledsoe, Phoenix Suns

Bledsoe has had himself a tremendous season for an otherwise struggling Suns team. This has led to the prospect of him being dealt, which could create an even better fantasy environment for the former lottery pick.

Thus far on the young season, Bledsoe is averaging 20.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game. He's also putting up 1.5 steals per outing and shooting at a solid 45 percent clip from the field. This has him as the seventh-best fantasy point guard. He's also in the top 10 in fantasy consistency, a clear indication that Bledsoe is a valuable DFS asset.

Kyle Lowry, Toronto Raptors

It's been a steady climb to the top for Lowry. Remember when he was a lowly part-time starter for Memphis and Houston before taking on the same role for Toronto in is first season in Canada? That seems like ages ago for this late bloomer.

Coming off a 2015-16 campaign that saw him average 21.2 points and 6.4 assists, most figured that was Lowry's absolute ceiling from a statistical standpoint. Like he's done throughout his whole career, the All-Star has proven skeptics wrong. He's averaging in PPP (21.9) and ASP (7.2) while shooting at a stellar 47 percent from the field, including a 45 percent mark from distance. This has Lowry as the sixth-best fantasy point guard on the season.

Jeff Teague, Indiana Pacers

Teague seems to have found a new home in Indy after struggling big time with the Atlanta Hawks last season. Taking over an offense that needed a true point guard, Teague is putting up 15.6 points while averaging a career high in assists (7.2) and rebounds (4.0). These are tremendous numbers across the board, and makes him one of the most-surprising fantasy performers on the young season regardless of position.

Teague will head into the new year ranked in the top 10 among point guards in fantasy points and fantasy consistency. That's what happens when you have tremendous all-around numbers and are the No. 2 option behind Paul George
