Fantasy Focus on the NBA Trade Deadline

With just a few days remaining until the NBA trade deadline, the likes of Serge Ibaka, DeMarcus Cousins, Mason Plumlee, Buddy Hield and Tyreke Evans have already been moved.

It's been an incredibly active deadline with a at least a handful more trades likely to come down the pike prior to Thursday afternoon. Let's take a gander at the NBA trade deadline through a fantasy basketball perspective.

The Orlando Magic are said to be active on multiple fronts after already moving the aforementioned Ibaka. Their focus is apparently on a point guard with Reggie Jackson and Jrue Holiday being potential targets. In fact, one scenario had Jackson heading to Orlando for Jeff Green and D.J. Augustin.

With Aaron Gordon now moving to the four following the trade of Ibaka, it will be interesting to see what the Magic do here. Evan Fournier and Elfrid Payton acting as the team's top-two wing scoring threats. Adding someone oe Jackson's ilk would change that.

Linked to Jimmy Butler and Paul George, the Boston Celtics have been the subject of multiple trade rumors over the past several months. They have the capital to add another scorer to go with Isaiah Thomas. Remember, Boston boasts the Brooklyn Nets lottery pick this year, which could very well be the No. 1 pick. They also have capital in rookie No. 5 overall pick Jaylen Brown as well as Avery Bradley, Jae Crowder and Marcus Smart.

Should Boston add another scorer to go with Thomas, it would surely impact the MVP candidate's fantasy output moving forward. Thomas heads into the unofficial second half of the seasona averaging nearly 30 points per game.

The Brooklyn Nets have been rumored to be looking to move Brook Lopez, who is averaging 20-plus points per game for the second consecutive season. Unfortunately, Lopez is also shooting at a substandard 45 percent from the field while collecting less than six rebounds per outing.

The latest rumors has Lopez potentially ending up with the Indiana Pacers to team up with the aforementioned Paul George and youngster Myles Turner. As with Lopez going to any contending team, his fantasy impact would take a major hit. Simply put, he would go from being a No. 1 option to likely a No. 3 option on a good team.

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban indicated on Monday that his team would be willing to take on cash if it were to receive draft pick compensation. With available assets such as Andrew Bogut and Deron Williams in the mix, this could make some sense. Dallas has the flexibility to be able to help facilitate another trade with big money switching places.

It's surely something to keep an eye on. Though, it will be interesting to see if the Mavs look to add another scorer behind Harrison Barnes. The free-agent signing is averaging 20.1 points while shooting at a 47 percent clip from the field. Any added scoring punch to the Mavericks' roster would surely impact Barnes.

Speaking of scoring Impact and fantasy basketball, is it possible that Carmelo Anthony might be moved? It remains to be seen if the Pelicans trading for DeMarcus Cousins will play a role here, but it could set into motion potential blockbusters between now and the end of the week.

Of the contending teams out west that could take on Anthony's contract, the Oklahoma City Thunder might make some sense. They have ridden Russell Westbrook's tremendous season to playoff positioning out west. But adding another top-end scorer would go a long way here. Something to the tune of picks to go with Enes Kanter and Domantas Sabonis could make sense here.

The same might be said for Anthony's old team, the Denver Nuggets, would could tempt New York with Emmanuel Mudiay and other youngsters to go with picks.

Anthony himself is the most fantasy-relevant option potentially on the trade block right now.

As we have done throughout trade season, eDraft will keep you up with the fantasy hook from all the major trades that take place around the NBA between now and Thursday.
