Still without Blake Griffin for the foreseeable future, the Los Angeles Clippers will now be without fellow All-Star Chris Paul for the next 6-8 weeks after he suffered a torn ligament in his left thumb in Monday's loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Paul, who will need surgery, had been puttin together a stellar season for the Clippers, posting an average of 17.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, 9.7 assists and 2.2 steals per game.
With Paul and his production now sidelined, the Clippers are going to have to dig deep to keep up their winning ways. The expectation here is that Austin Rivers will take over the starting point guard duties with Raymond Felton seeing increased playing time.
Rivers performed well in Paul's stead during the first round of the playoffs against the Portland Trail Blazers last season. In fact, he averaged over 10 points per game in that series. Thus far this season, Rivers is averaging 11.0 points while shooting at a 39 percent mark from distance in 26.3 minutes of action per game. He'll definitely be a viable DFS play with Paul sidelined.
