The Dallas Mavericks have acquired former top-10 pick Nerlens Noel from the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Andrew Bogut, Justin Anderson and a 1-19 protected 2017 first-round pick.
It's a tremendous deal for a Dallas team that remains somewhat alive in the Western Conference Playoff race. Despite boasting a 22-34 record, Dallas is just three games out of the final playoff spot.
From a fantasy perspective, all this does is boost Noel's relevance from here on out. The third-year center was averaging 8.9 points and 5.0 rebounds while shooting at a 61 percent clip in less than 20 minutes of action for Philly.
He really fell victim to the numbers game on a Sixers team stacked with young front-court talent. Remember, he averaged 11.1 points and 8.0 rebounds in 30 minutes as a 21-year-old second-year player last season.
Heading to Dallas, there's no reason to believe Noel won't see an uptick in minutes to the near 30 he got last season. Add in an added need for a scorer in Dallas, and look for him to be a double-double machine with the Mavericks.
From a Sixers perspective, Bogut likely won't play fro the team. He'll either be bought out or traded prior to Thursday afternoon's deadline.
Anderson is, however, an intriguing option, at least from a dyno perspective. The second-year player was averaging 6.5 points as Harrison Barnes' primary backup at small forward before the trade. Expect him to take on more of a role as a two-guard for Philly, seeing more than the 13.9 minutes he logged per game in Dallas.
