More than 10 days after he suffered a concussion after a fall in a game versus the Golden State Warriors, Chicago Bulls point guard Kris Dunn remains in the concussion protocol and there is no timetable for a return.
As the days go by and symptoms of a concussion linger, including headaches, concern grows for fantasy owners and those in Chicago. While concussions aren't as prominent in the NBA as they are in the NFL, an absence of this long is worrisome.
The second-year point guard enjoyed great success this season in Chicago with the new environment and substantial bump in minutes opening the door for him. In 40 games this season, the 23-year-old made 31 starts and averaged nearly 30 minutes per game. Dunn's contributions came on both ends of the floor as he stuffed the stat sheet with 13.7 points, 6.4 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game.
Since December, Dunn's numbers improved even more with averages of nearly 15 points, eight assists, two steals and four rebounds per game. In his absence, Jerian Grant continues to draw the start but is too volatile of a player to trust in deep season-long leagues or in DFS.
For now, fantasy owners and Chicago fans have to wait until the first positive news on Dunn's status comes. Until that point, Dunn shouldn't be expected to come to the court for a substantial amount of time and fantasy owners without IR spots need to move on from him.
