After playing out a couple of 10-day contracts with the Minnesota Timberwolves, it looked like Lance Stephenson's career was on the fringes. He averaged just 3.5 points in six games and was not renewed for the remainder of the season.
This came after the New Orleans Pelicans outright waived Stephenson earlier in the year following a six-game tour that saw him average just under 10 point per outing.
Now, it looks like Stephenson is going to return where it all started. The 26-year-old veteran signed a three-year, $12 million contract with the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday. The first two years of the deal are reportedly guaranteed.
Stephenson starred for the Pacers from 2010-14, ultimately putting up a career-high 13.8 points, 7.2 rebounds and 4.6 assists in his final season.
There's no real fantasy relevance to this signing in 2016-17, but look for Stephenson to potentially take minutes away from Monta Ellis next year. The high-priced free agent signing has been downright disastrous for Indiana thus far this season. He's averaging just 9.0 points, the guard's lowest output since he was a rookie directly out of high school with the Warriors back in 2005-06.
