A persistent hip injury that caused Aaron Gordon to miss three games last week, is now of greater concern than the Orlando Magic may have anticipated. On Monday, the team ruled Gordon out for the team's next two games and he is highly questionable for Thursday's game against the Atlanta Hawks.
The 22-year-old continues to be one of the bright spots for an ugly Magic team this season. On the year, Gordon averages 18.4 points and 8.3 rebounds per game in 34 minutes per night. Yet even as Gordon continued to play well, Orlando found ways to lose nearly every night it took the court.
Orlando entered the week with the worst record in the NBA and now they lose Gordon's services for even longer. Given the team's record, it could lead to a decision to hold him out indefinitely until the strained hip flexor is fully healed and there are zero restrictions.
For fantasy owners and DFS users, Mario Hezonja and Marreese Speights draw the boost in fantasy stock for the time being. Hezonja shows a nice shooting touch from deep, while Speights showed some recent ability to rack up points in extended minutes. The decision of who DFS owners should target will depend on who Orlando slides into the starting lineup in the coming games.
When more information becomes available on Gordon, we'll update you.
