After missing 11 of the team's past 12 games with what was originally described as a left knee contusion, Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid will now likely be out until after next weekend's All-Star Break.
The team announced on Saturday that Embiid has a very minor meniscus tear in his left knee. It won't require surgery, which isn't necessarily the worst news Philly could receive here.
With that said, any time we're talking about a lower-body injury to Embiid, it's scary. Here's a guy that missed his first two seasons in the NBA due to multiple foot injuries.
Embiid, in his first season of action in the Association, has been tremendous this season. He's averaging 20.2 points and 7.8 rebounds per game on the year.
With Embiid out for the next handful of games, expect both Jahlil Okafor and Nerlens Noel to continue seeing uptick in minutes. Okafor is averaging 13.8 points and 4.7 rebounds over the past 10 games. Meanwhile, Noel is putting up a 8.8/5.8 split during that very same span.
