We guess this can be considered good news for the Golden State Warriors. The team announced the results of Kevin Durant's MRI on Wednesday, which showed a Grade 2 MCL sprain. He will be re-evaluated in four weeks and has no timetable to return to the court.
The expectation here is that Durant will be able to return late in the regular season as a test run for the playoffs.
Durant injured his knee early in Tuesday night's loss to the Washington Wizards after Marcin Gortat pushed Warriors center Zaza Pachulia into him. He was immediately ruled out for the game with an initial diagnosis of a hyperextended left knee. MRI results now show a sprained MCL.
Golden State immediately reacted to the injury news, reaching out to sign former Sacramento Kings forward Matt Barnes.
With Durant out of action for at least the next month, the onus is going to be on Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson to continue picking up the scoring slack. Look for solid fantasy production from the two during that span.
