We have all been treated to some special play this season by Philadelphia 76ers Joel Embiid. After he missed two seasons with a right foot injury, this season finally gave us the opportunity to watch "The Process" dominate on the court. As much as Philadelphia tried to limit his minutes this season though, the injury bug has returned and will keep Embiid out of action again on Saturday.
Embiid has already been ruled out for tomorrow's game against the Miami Heat with a left knee contusion. The 22-year-old big man, who has averaged 20.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game this season in 25.4 minutes per game, hasn't played since Jan. 27 and missed three games before that night.
It seems unlikely that Embiid will be back in the near future either. Philadelphia will head out on a road trip on Sunday that will take them to the All Star Break. The team will almost certainly play it safe with its star big man and have him hold out of All Star Weekend and then see where he's at when the team returns for action in the second half of the season.
With Embiid still out of action, Jahlil Okafor will continue to see starts. In his past five games, Okafor has averaged nearly 25 minutes per game and contributed 13.6 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. From a DFS perspective, Okafor should be avoided given the lack of rebound production in comparison to other centers and his scoring isn't enough to make up for it. Fantasy owners and 76ers fans just have to continue to wait for Embiid to come back.
