Dealing with a minor knee issue he suffered Friday against the Portland Trail Blazers, Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid has been ruled out for the team's next two games, Tuesday against the Clippers and Wednesday against the Bucks.
Embiid, who missed Saturday's loss to the Atlanta Hawks, was already slated to sit out Wednesday's game as part of the rest the team has been giving the often-injured young star.
This doesn't seem to be a long-term issue. It's being called a knee contusion, which normally would require maybe one or two days of rest. But due to Embiid's injury history and the fact he missed his first two NBA seasons, the Sixers are smart to play it safe with him.
The top rookie of the year candidate is averaging 19.8 points and 7.8 rebounds per game this season. He's been among the most effective fantasy players in terms of points per minute, averaging just 25.3 minutes per game.
With Embiid out Saturday, Jahlil Okafor saw an uptick in playing time, putting up just 12 points and four rebounds in 30 minutes. Look for him to continue seeing more time over the next two games. Though, we'd caution against Okafor being considered fantasy relevant here.
