The Memphis Grizzlies will be without two-time All-Star big man Marc Gasol for an undetermined period of time after he suffered a broken right foot in the team's game against the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday.
Memphis made the announcement after an MRI revealed the broken foot on Tuesday.
Currently boasting a 30-22 record, Memphis finds itself as the No. 5 seed in the Western Conference.
It, however, has a brutal schedule moving forward with over half of its remaining games away from Memphis.
The larger issue here is that Memphis simply doesn't have someone to step up in Gasol's absence. In fact, he's the only true center on the roster. With Gasol out, the combination of Jarell Martin and JaMychal Green will likely be tasked with picking up the slack.
Though, neither has done anything of substance this year with Martin seeing action in two games.
The likelier scenario here is that Memphis will look outside the organization to replace Gasol, who was averaging 16.6 points and 7.0 rebounds at the time of the injury.
