Derrick Favors, Utah Jazz
Positional Rank: 33rd
Preseason Power Forward ADP: 8th
It's just been a disastrous season for those who were relying on Favors to up his game to starter fantasy status. After putting up a career high 16.4 points to go with 8.1 rebounds and a 52 percent shooting mark from distance last year, most figured Favors would take that next step to 20-plus points this season. Boy, were we wrong.
Favors heads into the All-Star Break averaging just 9.2 points and 6.1 rebounds while shooting at a horrendous 47 percent from the field. He's also playing nearly 10 minutes less per game than last season. This has Favors behind the likes of Marquese Chriss, Dwight Powell and Amir Johnson among fantasy power forwards. Ouch.
LaMarcus Aldridge, Portland Trail Blazers
Positional Rank: 7th
Preseason Power Forward ADP: 3rd
Averaging a 10-year low 17.5 points per game while siting out five games due to rest, Aldridge simply has not been the fantasy dynamo he was in Portland prior to signing with the Spurs. Most of us already figured he'd see a downtick in scoring with Kawhi Leonard acting as an elite player from that aspect. Unfortunately, Aldridge's preseason ADP didn't suggest this.
Not only is the former All-Star in the bottom half when it comes to starting fantasy power forwards (standard leagues), he's 18th among all forwards in fantasy consistency, having put up 30-plus fantasy points in less than 50 percent of his games. That's not good for anyone involved.
Dirk Nowitzki, Dallas Mavericks
Positional Rank: 37th
Preseason Power Forward ADP: 12th
Shame on us. How in the world Dirk was being relied on as a starting power forward in standards leagues during the preseason is not yet known. At 38 years old, we had to figure there would be a drop off at some point soon. Despite this, Nowitzki found himself drafted (on average) ahead of the likes of Ryan Anderson, Kenneth Faried and Mason Plumlee. Needless to say, it's been a downright disaster.
Dirk is averaging 13.9 points and 6.0 rebounds, both his lowest totals since his rookie season back in 1998-99. He's also missed all but 30 games to injury and is averaging just 26 minutes per game. Hence, his No. 37 ranking among fantasy power forwards heading into the All-Star Break.
