NBA All-Fantasy Team 6.0 - Eastern Conference

After each month of the NBA season we will compile our NBA All-Fantasy teams comprised of the top fantasy performers at each position along with a few honorable mentions that might break into the starting lineup next month.

As we compile this month’s All-Fantasy team one must remember that there were only nine or ten games to sample from. The short month gave some fantasy anomalies as teams with super-stud fantasy players whom had playoff spots sewn up (ie: LeBron James) sat their players to give them rest for the playoffs.

For this month’s Eastern Conference All-Fantasy Team we see five players who are representing non-playoff teams. We also see some new additions to the ranks as the Orlando Magic sent two players to the team while a familiar name from the windy city is making his debut.

The player rankings used are from eDraft.com and reflect total fantasy points accumulated by the player during the month of March.

Here is the April edition of the NBA All-Fantasy Team for the Eastern Conference.

John Wall - Guard, Washington Wizards

Wall continued his stellar play from March into April as he was once again the top-ranked fantasy guard in the league for the month. The month of March saw Wall average 23.9 ppg, 7.3 apg, 4.8 rpg and 1.1 steals per game. Granted Wall’s efforts went mostly to waste as the inept Wizards managed only two wins during the month. Albeit the Wizards are headed to the lottery draft again; Wall gives reason for hope in Washington. So long as his health is maintained, he should be a mainstay in the D.C. area. The Wizards should throw a max contract at Wall and ensure that this 22-year-old stud is wowing crowds for another five or six years.

Deron Williams - Guard, Brooklyn Nets

Brooklynites are asking themselves where this production from Williams was all season long. Williams has been a consistent fantasy option; however, he always seemed to be underperforming given the firepower on the Nets squad. Too bad for Williams and the Nets that he hit his regular season stride in the final ten games of the year. The hope is that this form will be maintained through the playoffs, but even that run could be a short one. Williams averaged 24.6 ppg, 8.4 apg and 2.0 rpg during March and every bit of this production will be needed for the Nets to advance in the postseason.

Carlos Boozer - Forward, Chicago Bulls

The leagues 22nd-highest paid player at $15 million per year finally cracked the All-Fantasy Team in the final partial month of the regular season. For only the second time this season, Boozer averaged a double-double on the month. March saw Boozer post averages of 18.9 ppg, 12.8 rpg and 3.6 apg. The Bulls are going to need every bit of Boozer’s contributions as they look to beat Brooklyn in the first-round of the playoffs. It appears as though Joakim Noah will miss some extended time this postseason so Boozer is all that more valuable as a playoff fantasy option.

Carmelo Anthony - Forward, New York Knicks

Anthony had himself one heck of a month, he averaged a ridiculous 36.9 ppg and 9.9 rpg. This kind of scoring propelled him to be the league leader in points per game as he surpassed Kevin Durant by mere tenths of a point. Anthony posted three consecutive games with more than 40 points, highlighted by a 50-point performance against Miami. As remarkable as Anthony’s month was, keep in mind he still sat out the Knicks last two games.

Nikola Vucevic - Center, Orlando Magic

I was most impressed by Vucevic during the month as he posted eight consecutive double-doubles on his way to 18.5 ppg and 15.3 rpg averages. There is no question that this young man is poised for big things as he just completed his second-full season in the Association. An absolute bright spot for the rebuilding Magic as this 22-year old could be the cornerstone of the franchise for years to come.

HONORABLE MENTIONS:

Kyrie Irving - Guard, Cleveland Cavaliers

Irving managed to secure an honorable mention for the month of March despite a down-month in terms of fantasy production. He saw his scoring average dip to 18.6 ppg while still posting 7.4 apg and 3.6 rpg. Irving had a couple poor outings that really cost him some fantasy points and ultimately a spot among the starting five. Irving missed out on the postseason for the second consecutive season and another trip to the lottery draft brings hope for another young and talented player to compliment Irving as the franchise moves forward and back to NBA relevance.

Tobias Harris - Forward, Orlando Magic

Another first-timer to make the cut was Harris from Orlando. The Milwaukee Bucks have to be banging their head against the proverbial table as they shipped Harris to Orlando in the J.J. Redick trade. All Harris has done since the trade is average more than 36 minutes a night while providing 17.3 ppg, 8.5 rpg and 2.1 apg. You think the Bucks couldn’t use that kind of production on their team?...Think again as he would have been a significant upgrade to their current roster.

Greg Monroe - Center, Detroit Pistons

Monroe has been a bit of a mainstay on the All-fantasy team throughout the season as his production has been consistent if not unspectacular. March was another solid month that saw three double-double games and four games with 20-plus points per game. Paired with Andre Drummond this duo has a bright future in Detroit. I’d expect Monroe to be a top-five overall fantasy center come next season and I do believe he is capable of living up to those expectations.
