It is time to check back in with the fantasy sleepers from 2013-14 NBA season. Everyone knows who the fantasy studs are so I’m not going to champion the cause of guys like Chris Paul and LeBron James any further. Instead we are focusing on those who are perhaps flying under the radar but who are performing like high fliers.
The following fantasy gems are performing like top-tier talent; however, they lack the name recognition that garners high fantasy value. Those in the know keep these guys stashed on their roster at bargain rates while their fellow general managers over-pay for the same production. Let’s take a look at some of the undervalued fantasy options out there and we shall start by analyzing the talent in the Western Conference.
It may surprise some to know that the undervalued and under-hyped Gordon Hayward from the Utah Jazz is a top-ten fantasy option at the guard spot. While his fantasy point per game production isn’t as high as say a Kyrie Irving, he is less of a risk to miss games due to injury. Hayward is continuing to produce out in Salt Lake and he can definitely add some value to your roster as well.
Staying out in the West, take a look at the Memphis Grizzlies Mike Conley. He is quietly going about his business in Memphis as putting up some nice slash lines in the process. If Conley can get those steal numbers up and keep his scoring where it has been then there is great value to be had here.
Moving over to New Orleans, we see that Ryan Anderson is have a banner year. His versatility in stretching that power forward spot is causing all kinds of defensive mismatches for opponents. Anderson has been deadly from long-range too as he is shooting a blistering .477 from beyond the arc. With Anthony Davis out for a while longer, Anderson is going to see some serious run and he should likewise for your fantasy squad.
Now off to the desert, we find Goran Dragic who is having a banner year for the Phoenix Suns. Dragic’s second season in Phoenix has been a bust-out year. Now that he has the likes of Eric Bledsoe in the backcourt to relieve some playmaking pressure, he has been able to assert himself as a scorer. Dragic is averaging a career high 19.1 ppg while keeping his assist and rebound numbers up as well. Dragic has fantasy value written all over him and he continues to be a sleeper pickup.
Our last stop in the Western Conference take us over to Houston. There we find a relatively underappreciated fantasy option whose slash line looks like 17 ppg, 3.9 apg and 4.9 rpg. Chandler Parsons has quietly gone about the business of having a career year while playing the shadow of James Harden, Dwight Howard and Jeremy Lin.
Parsons has been a regular starter for the Rockets all season and he definitely should be a starter for your fantasy squad. He is a relative bargain in most leagues as his name hardly garners a high price tag despite the stats to back it up.
