NBA Week 1 - Fantasy Must Starts

If you look at the NBA in the same fashion as the NFL then there are 25 weeks of NBA action. By breaking down each week and analyzing team schedules you can load your roster with players playing more games and sit those who are playing fewer games.

If all this sounds like a lot of work then you need not worry; because we have done the legwork for you. We are posting a weekly NBA start em’ and sit em’ fantasy guide to assist you in maximizing your fantasy roster potential.

Opening week in the NBA has just tipped off and we are offering our fantasy must start players for week one. In week one there are three teams playing five games; the revamped Houston Rockets, the rehabbing Los Angeles Lakers and the defending champion Miami Heat all have the busiest schedules. With this in mind, let’s have a look at a few more players who are sure to help your fantasy roster through the first week.

The Rockets have a plethora of fantasy options on their squad to choose from. of course the two single biggest fantasy-studs are Dwight Howard and James Harden. Pick up this duo and reap the rewards as the Rockets play a five game week. They start by hosting Charlotte and Dallas followed by a three-game road trip that sees stops in Utah, Los Angeles and Portland.

If you are looking to add a third Rocket to the mix for the week, pick up the versatile Chandler Parsons who is coming off a relatively quiet season of 15.5 ppg, 5.5 rpg and 3.5 apg. You certainly aren’t going to take anyone by surprise by adding Harden and Howard as their is no better duo to rack up the fantasy points this week.

The Kobe-less Lakers might be in tough this week as the team figures out how to play without their leader. Stepping up in his absence will be Pau Gasol and Chris Kaman. Neither player is going to have spectacular stat lines; however, consistency will be the motto here as both churn out solid fantasy lines. If you already have enough frontcourt players, take a gamble on Nick Young. Young is expected to start in the backcourt and he should log pretty heavy minutes. Young will not give you much in terms of rebounding or assists; however, he can score and that will be his job for this Laker squad.

No one needs any help in identifying the fantasy studs on the Miami Heat. If you can start LeBron James and Dwyane Wade. If you are looking for a lesser known option from the Heat then look no further than Mario Chalmers at the point-guard position.
